Last month I bought and installed an Optima YellowTop Prius replacement 12v accessory battery last month. Unfortunately, I damaged it during installation. (For details and photos see my post from back then.) I've bought a new negative cable, so now I can properly install a new 12v battery to replace the one I damaged. One lingering question - I checked the state of charge for if that new battery before I installed it (and before I damaged it.) I used an Optima Digital 400 charger (OPTIMA® Battery Chargers |OPTIMA® Digital 400 and Digital 1200 12V Performance Battery Chargers) The brand new Optima battery only showed 75% charged. Is that normal? Or does it indicate the battery had been sitting in the shelf at Pep Boys for too long? If that's the case, how can I guarantee my next one isn't also old? iPhone ?
