Hello everyone! When I looking for the oil filter for my 2017 Prius C (~3,500 miles), I saw that Toyota they have two kinds of oil filter for my car: one with oils filter cap and one without cap. I don’t know what is the original oils filter for Prius C. I did not do by myself so I don’t know which one is original. Any advice? Thanks.
It depends on whether a "spin on" or a cartridge filter was installed at the factory. The two are not interchangeable.
I think the Prius c only has spin-on filter? McGeorge is showing just the one option (#14): Engine Parts for 2017 Toyota Prius C | Toyota Parts If you can get under the car and have a look (safely), you could check it's appearance, if it's conventional spin-on or not, and might be able to read the part number, depending on how it's rotated. Maybe just call a dealership parts department first, see what they say.
The Prius C only has a spin on filter. The link that Mendel posted above is correct & so is the Part Number it shows. You can even buy them at your local Wal-Mart. Oddly, it's more expensive at my local Wal-Mart than it is at the dealership.
I think the 90915-YZZF2 is very common in Toyota's line up. I'll be doing conversion to spin-on with my Spring oil change, see the one I have on hand is that. The parts guy told me 90915-YZZF1 could also be used, it's maybe 1/2" longer, used on some of the larger vehicles, maybe RAV4 and Camry for some?
