I am a new Prius owner. I noticed some of the traditional guages are not found in the Prius, e.g. RPMs. Am I missing someting? I have seen people talk about the best range of RPMs for the best gas mileage, but I can't figure out where the RPMs are displayed.
We've purchased either the Scan Guage or CAN-View (no longer sold commercially) or some other aftermarket tool to allow us to observe that data. It's unnecessary and can be confusing for the uninformed driver though it's nice to have if you really want to understand how the car works and to really work at optimizing your driving to extract maximum performance from the vehicle.
