Hey, I’ve gotten a fault code on my car now that I don’t really Know what means... when I scan with Carista it comes up with P0443 ”Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit” What is that? I’ve tried searching for what it could be on google but it’s like searching for “my ear hurts” on google and it says u got cancer...
Can't go into details, but it talks about an electrical circuit problems in the evaporative emissions component. Youught not pass your emissions test somehow, because the emission curtailing part of the system won't be working. Check the connectors of the component, or the wiring harness on the connector to see if they're fixed properly. But this doesn't stop your car from operating.
ahh... it was just at service and stuff at toyota and they didnt mention that at all... it was also in for Periodic vehicle control where they do the emission tests and stuff and it passed without any faults or anything... ive seen some comments around the internet saying it could be just like a dashboard light not working and stuff to (my headlight dashboard light doesnt work), i got the same code about a month ago and it went away after i just opened up the tank lid.. so i just thought it was nothing but yea.. then i got the carista app to more deeply check the code and yea.. thats what it said. i did a emition test with carista to and it didnt find anything wrong.
the cap u screw in? it doesnt screw in all the way and click so that may be it... is it a circuit there? i have seen that screwing in and out the cap takes away the code for like a month. I asked the toyota dealership here tho when it happen first time and they said it isnt any kind of circuit there that can feel when the cap is in all the way.. and they didnt have any answer to why the "check engine" light turned off when i screwed it in and out again...
There is no electrical circuit but it must seal properly for the emissions control system to function properly.
Part of the emission controls self test performed by the car includes pulling a vacuum on the gas tank. It then monitors the vacuum. Any abnormal leakage will cause the vacuum to dissipate more quickly. Loss of the vacuum at a higher rate than expected will trigger the code. Obviously, a loose gas cap will create a rather large leak. i see, well that explains it. Is there a way to fix that? replacing the fuelcap for example? i honestly dont know if it is the cap thats the problem or the threads on the car if that makes sense.
I have tried multiple times, when it feels like the threads stop, u screw it a little more, then it ticks, but pops back, it’s not more then a few like 5 millimeters it screws up but yea... it doesn’t come loose when I drive either. It’s “sealed” as much so it stays on and doesn’t move. But yea...
Try clearing the code, tighten your gas cap and see if it comes back. It's the cheapest and quickest thing you can do. Make sure you inspect the gas cap gasket and the seat where it sets. If that doesn't work we will go to plan "B" whatever that is.
It sounds like if you had a new filler cap to try (not a very expensive part), you'd quickly be able to tell whether the new one feels weird in the same way. If it doesn't, you might have your fix. If it does, then possibly there is a filler neck issue. -Chap
Thats what i tried when it happen last time, but yea... here the code is back lol. I guess i could try to take off the one from my moms prius and see if the problem would be fixed if i got a new cap. If not then i guess it is the threads on the head or whatever its called lol.
