Hey all, yesterday my 04 with 143k threw a CEL. checked it and it turned out to be a P0505: idle control system. Can i get away with tearing the throttle body apart and cleaning it as well as the MAF? I had an acura, that i had to service the IAC valve in the throttle body and i never had a problem again. Is there anyway to determine if this will need a new throttle body in the future? after i cleared the code it did not come back on and the car is still driving normally getting 54mpg Thanks for any advice or input! Mike
I think you should clean the throttle body interior and throttle plate without "tearing the throttle body apart". Use the minimum amount of throttle body cleaner as you do not want fluid carrying dirt to drip down the throttle motor shaft.
