Hi everyone, so need some help here if anyone can pitch in, got these codes to run from techstream and I am not really sure how to approach the diagnosis. I've read some other threads related to these codes and have some question.

I know one of the reasons it says you can get these codes is because of the fuel pump. So with techstream I was able to control the fuel pump, atleast I heard movement( or noise) when I controlled it on/off with techstream, BUT does that mean the pump is working?

Also there was an option on techstream to control the throttle body ( something along the line of [slowly opening/closing and [faster opening/closing])

Now I didn't hear any noise or anything everything I toggled it on/off, does that mean the throttle body might be bad? Or are you not supposed to hear anything? Does anyone know if I open the air filter box,and look inside, the flap that is on the throttle body, is that what is supposed to move?

If anyone can please pitch in with ANY help I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Well, P3190 is the ECM saying that the engine has "poor power" ie, runs very badly (if at all). P0A0F is the hybrid control ecu saying "hey, I told the ECM to start the engine and it ain't happening - what's up with that?"

There can be many things that can cause this. You need: air/compression, fuel, and spark.

One of the common causes is that normal carbon - goop deposits build up in the throttle body where the blade (flap) is. You want to clean that goop off the blade and the bore. I get throttle body cleaner, spray a bunch on a clean rag, then use that to "scrub" the deposits off while hold the blade fully open.

Also you want to remove the Mass AirFlow sensor from the filter housing and carefully clean the 2 sensing elements that are recessed in a passage on the end of the sensor.

Otherwise, the fuel pump has to deliver (good) gasoline to the injectors at the correct pressure and volume. The injectors have to spray the right amount of fuel. The ignition coils have to produce enough spark across the spark plug gap at the correct time. The engine has to draw in air and fuel then compress it in the cylinders.

Many things could be wrong- some of these need special tools and knowledge to test properly. Something to keep in mind is if you try to start the engine over and over, you will discharge the HV battery and then you're stuck as very few can charge that.

After cleaning. It's normal to have (some) oil pooled in the intake manifold on a Prius. DSC_2006priusTB.JPG DSC_3737_2.JPG
