Got these codes tonight. I do not seem to be getting the 08ao battery code or whatever it's called current but it is listing pending. Module 2 of the battery is obviously bad as its 1 5 volts lower than the rest. When the codes are active. The battery fan is running full blast and the battery display shows the battery go from 1 bar to full in less than a min. I was assuming battery module needs to be replaced but I'm afraid with p3000 and c1310 coming on as in the subject that maybe something else is wrong?
P0A80 is the DTC indicating a traction battery failure and is logged by the traction battery ECU. The other codes support that finding. P3000 is logged by the hybrid vehicle ECU while C1310 is logged by the skid control ECU.
The P0A8O isn't current though, its pending. Personally I think its the battery, but does it make sense that the other codes are current and the battery one is pending?
Not a lot of sense, but personally I am not too concerned about attributing a big difference to "current" vs. "pending".
Got someone supposedly going to replace battery for 500 tomororw evening. 6 months unlimited mile warranty. Can I drive the car tomorrow to work and back. whats the worse than will happen?
1. The warranty is only as good as the person performing the service. Don't expect much for $500. 2. The worst that can happen is that you will need to call for a tow - or an unexpected failure results in your getting into an accident due to loss of power at a critical moment.
This person appears to have been around for a bit. At any rate, tow I could handle, what kind of failure could cause an accident?
Well, I guess it depends upon your commute conditions. For example, in a recent visit to the Los Angeles area, I was on I-405. Seven lanes heading in the same direction, no shoulder on either side of the highway for disabled vehicles. So if you lost power, it is pretty guaranteed you would be hit from behind with prevailing speed at 70 mph.
I'm trying to figure out what would fail. Once the engine is on especially in limp mode, it stays on. So my understanding is my main concern would be getting it to backup after work. I would probably back in when I get there to eliminate any backing up later and just hoping it kicks the engine over when I start driving. My drive is 90 percent highway and its easy enough to pull over if need be.
Well I didn't drive it today after reading it could mess up the transmission. Guy came today and replaced the pack. Its a pack out of a 2008 so 4 years newer than mine was. So far its driving okay and getting to green like my other one wouldn't. For 500 bucks if it lasts a year or maybe 2 I"m happy.
A year or two? Hmm maybe. I doubt it. Please check back here a couple of times a year. Would be interested to hear how it goes.
Unless you know how to identify the year of the battery modules, the person could've told you anything and you would just have to accept it as the truth
He claimed he got it from a 2008 and tested it. nothing else done. 6 month warranty and hopefully it lasts longer.
Well with that info you know that's not what you got. You can't buy a good battery from a junkyard for $500, let alone installing it and making a profit. Oh well So you basically got a craigslist special
I did find him on Craigslist yes. He takes old battery as core and I'm sure he swaps the modules or whatever as I saw many modules in his trunk. In this case he claimed it came out of a 2008 from the junkyard and was tested and put in my car. I have no idea if that is the truth or not, but he really didn't have to volunteer that information.
In chapter 4 of Gavin de Becker's The Gift of Fear, he lists "too many details" (that didn't have to be volunteered) as a technique that some deceptive people pull off with aplomb, precisely because it makes us think "well, I don't know if that's the truth, but then he didn't have to volunteer it...." I can confirm it has worked on me, too. :/ For a while I was put off by the title of that book and stuff others said about it, but it's better than I had expected. -Chap
Honestly I didn't even think about it. Probably would have been a little weird doing that while he was working on the car as well. At any rate. My Car with all idiot lights lit up now has no lights and the battery is charging and going green two or 3 times a day so it seems to be working okay. Hopefully it stays that way.
