I recently got a few stone chips on my hood which are relatively deep. Do you just put touch up paint or do you put several layers ? Sometimes a botched touch up job can be just as bad as the chip itself whic is what I am afraid of. I used a toothpick and just put a thin coat over it. Just one coat. Is this adequate ?
Yeah, it seems many thin layers are better than one thick blob. As the blob drys it leaves an indentation. If you build up thin layers it won't.
Is there a better way to blend it ? I can still tell where the chips are and it does not look 100% blended. I try to put 1 or 2 layers max on as multiple layers makes it noticeable. Then I just waited and waxed it later on in the week but I can still tell where it was put. Didn't know if there was a better way to blend it.
Mine is silver. I like white though. Would have bougt one if they had one in stock when I purchased. Can you take a pic of a spot you touched up? Maybe I am as good as it will get with it.
Google youtube for chip repair. Doing it right takes time and technique. Then new chips appear. Every couple of years take it to a body shop and have them all fixed right.
