I picked up my superwhite prius on Saturday and when I was cleaning it for the first time yesterday, I noticed that the superwhite color on the plastic bumpers seemed to appear a bit different than the superwhite color on the metal. To my eye the plastic bumpers looked a bit darker. I have to figure that the same paint and same color was used on both surfaces but because the surfaces are different materials (plastic vs. metal) it is not possible to get them to appear identical in hue/cast ??? Can anyone else with superwhite color take a close look and let me know if they can concur on this observation even if it is subtle. Also should you be kind of enough to respond, please include your vehicles year with your comments. Mine obviously is an '08. Thanks in advance. Steve
Steve, I had my superwhite ‘07 from Oct 06 through Feb 08 and I noticed the same thing. Toyota clearly uses the same color on both the bumpers and main body - I believe the paint on the plastic appears to be a slightly different shade because of the different material and surface. Congrats on the new ride!
Steve, BTW, other Chatters have reported the same thing on other colors of the Prius too: http://priuschat.com/forums/care-ma...g/41101-mismatch-paint-color-rear-bumper.html Personally, I've never noticed the differences on new cars before (I've noticed it on older cars where different parts of the car's paint fade or age differently).
