I have a pair (package opened, never used) of AutoSock traction aids in the X20 size (for the P175/65R14 stock tire size of a Gen 1). I don't have my Gen 1 any more, and Gen 3 takes a different size. These are made of a special fabric with high grip in snow, and back when I first heard of them, they were slowly earning approval as chain substitutes in states that have snow traction regs. Now their state-by-state regulations page shows approval in every state. (At the bottom of the page is a graph that seems to show them consistently outperforming chains.) They fold into a nice flat plastic envelope to just keep in the trunk in case they are ever needed. It turns out I didn't use them in all the time I had my Gen 1. (There was one time I spent an hour to push my car back onto an icy road, and that was the time I forgot the silly things were in the trunk!) They have changed their size designations over time: the X20 pair I have would now be the AS600. $64 including domestic shipping to a Gen 1 owner who can use 'em.... -Chap
