I have to park my car at the airport for 1 month and would like to come back and not have to deal with starting issues. I wonder if there is any advice out there? The longest I have parked the car is about 1 week and had no issues. Should I disable the SKS (how do I do that?) or disconnect the 12v battery? thanks!
What's reason you have to park at the airport for 1 month? The parking cost will cover new 12v and taxi services to and from airport.
there is a switch under the steering wheel to disconnect sks. i leave my car every winter for 5-7 weeks, but i know the health of my 12v. if you don't, and don't want to have to call for a jump, get an inexpensive jump pack.
amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-J312B-Jump-Starter/dp/B00Q62YJC6 it also serves as a USB power source and a 'cigarette lighter' 12 v power source. Charges via an existing extension cord.
I had a relatively new 55Ah battery and no SKS. I left it for 9 weeks without any issues. After those 9 weeks I started the Prius (so 12V battery and HV battery were fine), drove 10 meters to park it close to a wall socket and recharged the battery with a 230V charger just to give the best care to said battery which I want to last for at least a decade... Obviously I could have driven off to recharge it, but it was next to my house and I didn't need the Prius for a few more days. I would not obviously NOT leave the jumpstarter hooked up to the car/carbattery in any way!
