Cause: Parking on hill? Onset: came out in the morning to find loud beep, abs, vsc, and ((!)) On. Brakes not working well. Troubleshooting process: 1. Verified 12v battery voltage, it was at 12.8 2. Checked fuses: found 25 amp ABS fuse and there fuse 33 (main block) to be blown. (Pictures attached) 3. Replaced main block and 25 amp fuse. 4. Lights still on, fuses not blown. 5. Tried reset of pin jumper, got it to reset then the beeping started back immediately. 6. Code blinking: (!)=5, ABS=4, VSC=4 7.trying to find what that means. If the fuses aren't blown again, is there another way to reset it? Any other trouble shooting ideas?
The service manual. In pdf search for "/xx" for any given flash code in the brake control section. /57 is C1256, /42 is C1242, and /45 is C1245. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I have this now and my code I can't remember what it is it's from the Toyota dealers machine is for low pressure in the left rear part of the brakes my lights just as you describe have been on for 2 years and the brakes have been working like they always did except I have no ABS so I can lock up all four wheels and smoke all four wheel wells on a smart application of the brakes but they work very well just like my Corollas I just don't have any ABS when the car skids or loses traction the traction control light still comes on so everything seems to work I just have no ABS so it's like I'm driving my old Corolla I'm comfortable with that I'm sure you're going to find you have similar as far as I know getting a ABS pump and accumulator that works is problematic good luck
So any ideas why those fuses blew? I am wondering why they haven't blown again, maybe I can check the relays? To me, c1256 is no or low accumulator pressure, I'm hoping power just isn't getting there still. not sure how to test the relays. C1245 may also point to another blown fuse or faulty relay? |C1245 TOYOTA Possible Causes Faulty Yaw Rate and Deceleration Sensor Yaw Rate and Deceleration Sensor harness is open or shorted Yaw Rate and Deceleration Sensor circuit poor electrical connection Not sure how to understand c1242... You can't go looking up C1xxx codes just any old place, because the C1 range is "manufacturer defined", where the same code can mean whatever a manufacturer wants it to mean, wherever they want to use it. Even if you find it in a list of "Toyota codes", even the same manufacturer can use the same C1xxx code to mean completely different things in different car models. If you have a Gen 2 Prius, you have to look up manufacturer-defined codes in a repair manual for a Gen 2 Prius. C1245 means the car is computing an acceleration g value from the car's speed, comparing that to the acceleration sensor reading, and seeing a difference of more than 0.35 g for at least 60 seconds. Possible causes can be a dodgy yaw/accel sensor, incorrect installation of the same, wiring problem, or that the sensor's zero-point calibration needs to be redone. C1242 tells you that one of the skid ECU's power terminals (IG1 or IG2), which are supposed to be redundant, received power for at least four seconds while the other one didn't. (There's an INF code with C1242 that will tell you which one had power and which didn't, if you have a scan tool that shows INF codes. If it's 87, there was power at IG2 but not IG1. If it's 88, there was power at IG1 but not IG2.)
Didn't know that thak you Chapman! With those 3 blink codes, can anyone get a hint of what to check next? There wasn't any sounds coming from the car. Just parked one day, and then the fuses blew... Replaced the two I found but nothing changed.
For each of those codes, there will be a specific troubleshooting section, often with several pages of ideas, in the repair manual. Toyota Service Information and Where To Find It | PriusChat
