I know the driver air bag deploys from the steering wheel but I can't for the life of me see how the passenger side air bag deploys. Can anyone explain this to me? Looks like it must come from the dash above the upper glove compartment door but I don't see how.
What you see above the glove box is probably where the airbag deploys from. Toyota took the time to have the seams for the breakaway parts of the dash imprinted underneth the plastic, instead of the el-cheapo and ugly visible seams you see in most domestic cars.
My guess was the panel right under the lower glovebox, but that's because it looks too tricky to come out over the top one...
It is seamlessly integrated above the glovebox. The whole panel will break away upon depoloyment. The NCF outlines this as a new "feature". -Rick
Page 70 of the Users Manual shows a little gray area above the glove boxes to indicate where the air bag is located. Mark
