A coworker told me today that her passenger headlight faces so far wide right that friends who see her head-on have told her it's burned out. She went to the dealer and they replaced the bulb but it wasn't burned out in the first place. She says she put her car in the garage, left the lights on and checked tha angles, realizing just how far to the right the passenger light is. Has anyone experienced anything light this?
My first thought is that the bulb might be seated improperly in the headlight housing. However, you say the dealer replaced the bulb, hmm. It would be a sloppy technician or mechanic to install a new bulb in the same, incorrect way. But I suppose it is in the realm of possibility, especially given the fact that the Prius passenger side is the more difficult one to access. Have the bulb checked for proper seating/installation AFTER the intake hose is moved out of the way.
On a Gen 2? So the bulb turns on and you can physically see it on inside the headlight compound? Is the bulb seated straight? It's possible it's not seated properly or the rubber boot behind the headlight in the engine compartment wasn't replaced properly.
I guess we won't know until the OP actually takes a look at the co-worker's car. I didn't get any indication that it was a Gen 2.
I'll take a personal look at the car when I get a chance to see if I can tell whether it's seated incorrectly. Temps have been single digits lately and I'm a good friend only to a certain point. This is a Prius v. Only a couple years old, I think.
