What an irony . . . with so many 'experts' providing wild claims of (easy to extract) coal lasting for decades beyond any of our lives ... now there's hesitation in the forcast(s):

Forget Peak Oil, Now Peak COAL Is Just A Few Years Away

Whether coal production is down due to the bad economy, or whether it's because coincidentally coal is harder to extract now ... no one is saying for certain. Still . . . . if CO2 IS an issue . . . I guess that means the issue (if any) becomes moot - right?
    ;)

Get rid of those sissy safety rules and silly envirnomental rules and let Big Coal blow as many mountaintops as they want AND then we will have increased coal production. Why do those big guberment Democrats stop us from burning all our natural resources ASAP.

Burn it and get rich, that's what I say, screw our grandkids!

I've been wondering about that. It sounds like the energy density of the average tonne of coal is also going down as lower grade stuff is thrown into the mix.

It's peak water and air that concern me. They're next, after fossil fuels.
