In the past, I have put a live trap in my alley to catch a stray cat. One time, I caught a jackrabbit and it died of fright.
Source: A Pride of Lions Killed and Ate a Group of Rhino Poachers Who Broke Into a Wildlife Reserve The remains of what appears to be three bodies were discovered on the Simbuya Game Reserve along with high power rifles owner Nick Fox said in a statement. Fox said the poachers’ mangled remains are suspected to have been eaten by a pride of six lions who were on the reservation to protect the endangered and highly targeted rhinos who are hunted for their horns. I realize the mountain lion post is going on 2 years old now, but those are pretty normal around here. At one house we have a mountain lion that lives (or likes to sleep) in a tree along our long gravel driveway overlooking what I guess is her domain, acres of open space. You rarely see her, unless she wants to be seen. Sometimes though you'll be walking by and this giant tail will drop down from the tree and start almost wagging. Just a little "Hey, I'm here. Don't bug me, and I won't eat you" message.
They aren't where I live. So if you want to see a big cat, and have a picknick with them, you'll have to do it in a wild park... (Earlier this year, a bunch of French tourists actually tried to do this in the Cheetah enclosure of a wildpark you can drive through with your car. And even though it is mentioned in 30 languages and 700 times not to, they got out of their car, supposedly to have a picknick...) Be sure to look from 2 minutes upwards.
