Is there any truth to the idea that you shouldn't carry your key fob(smart key) in the same pocket with your cell phone, on the theory that the signal from the phone might screw up the program on the fob?
Yea, there's some truth to it and I've experienced it...but I've also, other times, had them in the same pocket and had no problem at all. I try to remember to keep them in different pockets, but i don't go out of my way to do so and wouldn't say I'm compulsive about it. But if I had a no start situation, or the door wouldn't unlock it would be one of the first things I'd check.
Good point, I didn't read the question carefully and I agree with you completely...it's a signal interference issue, not a programming issue and no permanant consequences result...you just have to separate the phone from the fob.
It's also possible for the periodic signal from a cell phone to cause the fob to reply. Doing this repeatedly shortens the life of the fob battery. Tom
