I am super exited about becoming a Prius owner this weekend, as I'm sure you can all understand. Even with everything going on in Japan I managed to find a dealer willing to cut a deal on a new 2011 Prius Three, Black with Gray interior, with the only options being the factory Paint Protection Film, Rear Bumper Applique and Carpeted Floor Mats. They offered it to me at $26,247 out the door (about $24,160 before tax). It wasn't easy either; I sent emails to 17 different dealerships and only a few of them were willing to make an actual offer. Most of them weren't willing to talk numbers unless I came down to the dealership, but I'm very busy and don't have the time to go to 17 dealerships. One of them told me they weren't selling for less than $1000 over MSRP, and another mistakenly quoted me on a Two but told me Three through an entire email exchange. It wasn't until he told me it didn't have JBL audio that I corrected him and he fessed up. So anyway, when I go in I need to have them change the reverse beep to one beep or I'll probably go mad. Anything else you guys suggest I remember to tell them? Any tips or pointers that could make my Prius experience more pleasurable in the time to come? Any quick and easy mods that you suggest? (I'm already thinking about HIDs ) Thanks everyone! I can't wait to be a part of all of this!
Welcome and congrats. Most people do the reverse beep like you say. Others like to disable the passenger seat belt beep. Some dealers say they will not do this due to safety reasons. If you are a DIY, the OEM fog lights is a nice easy mod to do.
Wow, the fog light install looks pretty involved. Although it sure would be nice not to have fake plastic fog lights.. (and so it begins) I actually like to keep the seatbelt beep. My last car, a 2003 Toyota Corolla, just had a flashing light below the radio for the passenger's seatbelt. I can't count how many times people mentioned that it looked like a button and we joked about making it a "Seat Ejector" button . But I do like keeping myself and at least my front seat passenger alive in case of an accident, and an annoying beep would actually help me on that front.
Congrats in advance. Regarding dealer modifications, there's an entire chapter in the owners manual on customizations. Somebody posted a PDF a while back--try a search so you can review and decide what you want, and ask the dealer to do them before you take delivery.
Thanks. I already skimmed through that, guess I was wondering if anyone wishes that they got something changed in particular. I had read some of the threads about the reverse beep and never would have thought about how annoying it is without input from others.
Here's what I had done: --wireless remote unlocking operation: customized setting of “all doors unlocked in 1-step” --unlocking using a key: customized setting of “all doors unlocked in 1-step” --reverse warning buzzer: customized setting of “beeps once” --seat belt reminder: customized setting of “OFF” --auto door lock: customized setting of "OFF" for shifting out/in park locks/unlocks doors
I know how excited you are.....just got mine yesterday and loving it. I know I'm going against the "norm" here, and just about everyone will disagree with me, but (please don't throw things at me hereeep I actually don't mind the reverse beeper, it's only on in reverse and how long does it take anyone to back into a driveway or parking spot? Seconds? My dealer asked me if I wanted it changed, and after hearing it I said, na, don't bother. What I did get him to remove was the dealership decal off the front bumper, where the front plate would go (in some provinces). So, enjoy your new ride, I know you will as did I, there is lots to learn but most importantly, drive it and enjoy it, while waving at all the others at the gas stations.:clap2:
