    Hi guys,

Got my PIP over the weekend and paid additional for a factory alarm to be installed tomorrow.

However, some people told me I dont need it for the prius, also the dealer told me they will have to drill hold for the alarm light which I get freak out.

Any one of you had it installed? Does it worth $400? Are there other aftermarket options?

Please help since I am taking my car in tomorrow.

I thought it has a built in alarm already. There is no glass break alarm though.

Alarms are useless. When have you ever investigated an alarm going off?

Save the money and get something that you will use. Don't leave valuables in site inside the car, leave it unlocked.

Just saved ya $400. Take that Geico

    1. A thief would need either a tow truck or YOUR key to steal your car. Neither of those would likely set the alarm off.
    2. If you don't leave anything valuable in the car, it will usually not get broken into.
    3. Your car has a blinking red light on shortly after you lock it, this could deter a thief assuming they avoid cars with these.

I am thinking an alarm would discourage them to break my window. I am not expecting an alarm would prevent them from stealing the whole car.

I think most people dont have an alarm on their prius, I hope I can get a refund.

Your Prius already has a red light on the dash that flashes in order to warn thieves of an alarm. However, some thieves do not mind and will figure they will be gone by the time anyone notices, if they notice. Also, the factory alarm usually only sounds if a door is opened without the key, unless you have the added on glass breakage sensor installed. Now, if you had a blinking blue light installed, you might discourage them, as they might think you have an aftermarket alarm.

Didn't install the alarm and got a refund. Now I can use the money for other mods.

I bought all the rubber matts for the liner in the back and floor. Love them. Since I throw the charger in the back, the liner is nice to have. I also have the black rear bumper protector.

I'm thinking about the lower rocker moldings next.
