Hello! I have a PHV 2017. Yesterday I managed to reverse my car while the garage door was half open. The thing on the top ripped off. The plastic casing is damaged. Inside it, there is a PCB-board, and one coil and probably two capacitors were ripped off. So my question is: What is inside this thing? Is it DAB-antenna? I managed to glue the plastic casing back again. I drove the car for a test, and the DAB reception works fine, and the FOB-key and remote locking works fine. Is it important that I get it repaired immediatly, or can I wait like a month or two? The picture with the blue top is the damaged one. The picture with the red top is from a non-damaged car
FM, XM Radio probably Telematics. Not sure about AM Radio. I think GPS doesn’t use it but not 100% on that.
Antennas in the roof shark fin: AM FM (main) satellite radio mobile phone/data service for telematics (main) GPS for telematics Antenna on the rear glass: FM (sub) Antennas in the dashboard: mobile phone/data service for telematics (sub) GPS for multimedia
The biggest issue with waiting is how much it's going to leak; then freeze, then defrost/melt - when the interior of the car warms up. It could ruin the interior of the car.
Thank you for your answers! I think for now, that I'm going to seal it properly, so that water and Ice dont enter. What is the telemetry-thing you are talking about? What kind of telemetry-data are we talking about that needs the sharkfin-antenna?
Telematics provides the following four services, some requiring a subscription: automatic collision notification service emergency-assistance button (SOS) service stolen-vehicle location service enhanced roadside assistance service
