I was at a family reunion over the weekend, showing off my new hybrid when someone asked me if I "felt safe driving a Toyota Prius". I tried to explain some of the safety features, and mentioned the crash test ratings for the Gen II Prius, but it got me thinking. Under real driving conditions, how well does the Prius protect people in an accident? While it might be too early for reports from Gen III owners, I'd really like to hear your opinion on this, if you or someone you know was involved in an accident while driving any model of Prius. Care to share?
