This is kinda cool: Plug-in Prius Wins the 2011 Rallye International Vert de Montreal | Inhabitat - Green Design Will Save the World i hope we get better than 76mpg on our daily course.
gratz I wonder how many charges they allowed over the 600km of the course. If it was just the one at the start 76 mpg is pretty darn impressive. I doubt most users will be driving that far that slow though (31mph).
No idea, and my French is nonexistent. Google translate worked OK for their rules in French, though it's not as readable in the "Refueling" section as it is in some other parts. It sounds like hybrids are not allowed to charge during a leg; there were 7 legs over 3 days, so they may have charged up to 7 times.
Rallye International Vert de Montreal ranks on both speed and fuel efficiency - the title goes to the car that can maintain an average speed of 50 kilometers per hour while also making the most of its alternative fuel source. Indeed an interesting race.
It really depends on the length of the trip and the number of recharges. These are the two trips John took when he got behind the prototype. Those are real-world data so it has traffic lights and stop signs. I doubt the Rally has those. The stops pull down the average speed.
Just pointing out how results of this rally are far from real world. Like the publicity track drive Ford did with a Mustang and got over 40mpg with it. I'm sure there are those that can beat these rally numbers. Most should just expect the EPA numbers.
