I was browsing the US Toyota site on the Prius and noticed under "Interior" it says "Power automatic door lock with anti-lockout feature" which I can only assume is the feature that locks the door either with the shifter or dependent on speed. Can anyone with an 05 verify that feature? Is it available on the Canadian version?
My 05 BC Prius does not automatically lock the doors, either when the car is put in gear or when I reach any speed. I think that this reference is to locking the car by use of the remote control or the Smart Keys System.
I think what it means is that if you unlock the door with the fob or the SE-SS key and don't open the door within 20 seconds it automatically relocks the door(s) also the Prius doesn't automatically lock the doors when you put it into gear or when the car starts to move, but I do believe Costaletech has a kit to facilitate that function. http://www.coastaletech.com/
Hmm... several of the Canadian brochures (namely the 04 Solara, 05 Matrix and 05 Corolla) have the feature "Power Automatic Door Locks with Shifter Activation" which is the one that is programmable (either by the user or dealer) and is linked to the transmission shifter, that's why I asked about this one and whether it might be a speed (e.g. 15mph) type lock... It's a pity that it isn't quite elaborate on the description
I am familiar with this feature. My wife's Grand Caravan locks the door when the car hits 15 MPH. The Prius definitely does not have that feature, at least not in the States.
You can purchase a kit for the 04+ Prius which adds the "15 doors lock at mph" functionality from: http://www.coastaletech.com/ I've been debating getting this and the EV-only mod.
I don't know more than anyone else but the term "anti-lockout" reminds me more of SKS feature whereby you can NOT lock the doors from the outside if the fob is on the inside. Thus you can not lock yourself out of the car. - anti (opposite) lockout
I adopted a monkey some time ago. I've recently trained so that anytime we move forward, he reaches over and hits the lock button. Works pretty good. It's the same monkey I trained to let me into my house when I approach so I don't have to fiddle with keys: http://priuschat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?...?t=3903&start=4
