That new something I learned today (or did I miss this in the manual?). You can power up the whole system & drive after a non-hybrid system power up (pressing the power button twice without your foot on the brake to get windows, radio, etc). Press the brake & push the button again (a third time) & its fully on! So the question is has any one else been doing this & does it provide any benefit?
welll.. no other than you don't have to turn the car "off" before starting the car. Anytime you press the brake pedal and the POWER button (whether you're in OFF, ACC or IG-ON), the car will go into READY mode (i.e. will start)

Do note that if you're in ACC mode (the first press without the brake pedal), it will automatically shut itself off after 1 hour. It freaked me out the first time it did it.

i noticed if i press the power button twice without my foot on the brake, it powers up, but it won't go into drive, just neutral. You have to start it with your foot on the brake for it to go into drive.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rangerdavid @ Sep 21 2007, 07:43 PM) </div> There is a chart in the service manual that shows how the shift lever works: In ACC, you can shift to P if the car is in N (don't ask me how you would be able to do this since the car shifts to P when you power down) In IG-On, you can shift from P to N and N to P but not to D or B. (edit: or R) In Ready, from P you can shift to any position except B. You have to be in D to shift to B. [attachmentid=11589]
cool little chart, albeit a bit confusing at first. I've been using neutral a lot more recently and discovered the inability to go into B from N...as indicated on the chart.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rangerdavid @ Sep 21 2007, 07:43 PM) </div> Errr... that was the point of this thread, me thinks! Without your foot on the brake, it does not "power up" - meaning it does not go into ready mode. You only get that when you put your foot on the brake first.

I've noticed the shutoff, too, but thought it happened when the battery got low. When sitting listening to music, I power down to turn off the headlights, then go back into ig or acc mode, whichever it is.
