I've been using the power outlet in the dash quite a lot lately and found that the cover's "hinge" is merely part of the cover (ie molded as one piece). In other words, there is no real hinge and at some point will break.

Has this happened to anyone yet? I suppose the cover will just snap into place, but will fall to the ground when removed and eventually get lost. Is the cover/hinge a separate part, or would the whole power outlet need to be replaced? Just curious.

I must have bumped mine when the car was less than a week old, because I found the cover hanging on by about 1/16" of hinge. I went ahead and snapped it off and threw it in the center console.

Great, I just broke my car for the first time. Won't be the last..... :(
