OK so let me start by saying thank you to anyone who helps. I got into an accident back about a year ago. My check hybrid system light came on as did a few others. But the car still drove well and the MPG were good.

About 4 months ago my car started to shake very badly. I pulled over and looked up what could have caused it. It said spark plugs so I changed those and that fixed that problem. But the VSC, ABS, airbag, and brake lights stayed on within the dashboard. I checked the codes and it showed a few codes that coincided with those lights. Not long after I noticed a decrease in the MPG. I went back and checked the codes again and this time it showed my hybrid battery was failing. I replaced that this past week. But the MPG has still been bad, even though all the lights have gone off other than the exclamation of death and the check hyrbid system.

Fast forward to today, Since I don't have Techstream I decided to use the paper clip trick to check for codes. The first one I got was 83 from the airbag light. After researching that code I found out that one means that their is no communication to that right side front airbag. Since I wrecked the car on that side I decided to take some things apart in the front and found out the sensor was disconnected. I connected it and boom. That light is gone.

The only other code I got was 93 from the power steering light. I have looked and looked and cannot figure out which code that is. I do not know how to know which letter to start the code with. And when I look up "93" in the Prius DTC code chart, it brings up several with different letters and numbers to go with them. Everything from no communication with the HV ECU, to something wrong with the inverter cooling system.

One thing. My brakes do not seem to be working 100% correctly. I only bring this up because I saw that 93 code under U0293 stating about brake booster. Anyway, can someone please lead me in the right direction here? I much appreciate it.

So what light now is actually on just the exclamation point??. I'd certainly be looking at the wheel sensor wire on the side that you wrecked where you found the broken airbag sensor connector The yellow things that have to be slid up and squeezed and all that to undo I believe all the yellow clips are SRS business what you're looking for now is probably gray and runs from the fender well to the hub assembly I would think it would probably be on the side that you damaged not on the other three.

Is your power steering still smooth as butter?

Glad you were able to find that one! There's a big Gen 3 repair manual PDF floating around, but whoever put it together put in the whole airbag section from Gen 2 by mistake, so it's hard to get Gen 3 airbag repair details that way. And (in the Gen 2 list anyway) there isn't any airbag code shown with /83. Good work finding it.

I didn't even know the Gen 3 steering ECU could do the blink game. It's nice to know it does, but the DTC chart in the repair manual does not show /xy blink codes next to the DTCs, so it's kind of useless without somebody figuring out which blink codes go with which DTCs. There are some systems in the car where the blink code just is the last two digits of the DTC (like the HVAC, where the codes are pretty much all B14xy and the blink code is the xy), but in lots of other systems it's not that way at all, and you just have to be able to look the blink code up.

I guess if we know the steering ECU does blink codes, some people could go and deliberately create some of the different DTCs and find out what the corresponding blink codes are, and we could maintain a list here. But for now I don't think we have one.

So, as tantalizing as it is to be able to get a blink code for the steering, getting to the real issue might be a lot faster by getting access to a scan tool and reading the DTC that way.
