I'd like to solve this one if there's a safe cheap easy way that any of us here knows about; in my 2005 base model; the driver's side window has an auto down and auto up feature (first detent in the switch has the window go up or down only as long as I'm touching the switch, the second detent is auto up or down)...

The other 3 windows are "manual" up or down, no auto up/down. Is there a way to change the switches or something so that all four windows can do the auto down/up dance?

    Thanks. Love this community.

Doesn't the generation 3 do that on the four windows I just had mine towed away from here so I can't go out and look If not then you may be out of luck I mean if you were really crafty you might could try to take three switches apart and use the driver window switch for the other three windows That's beyond my mock-up personally but I guess it could be done and I imagine those switches if you take them apart there's numbers and names I think on them It's a type of switch and I do think they can be had but maybe not You might have to have the whole block I mean I don't have any problem cracking my other three windows and I don't think I ever engaged the auto feature on the driver window myself I mean I've had to reset it before when it's flashing but generally I just put the window where it's going and that's that But now that I'm looking at a picture of another block yeah you might have to have the whole block and I don't think a generation 2 came with a block of switches that are all auto so I would say no unless you can get an alarm system with an external remote that has the capability to auto up and down any window that it wants probably a big ask

Yuck, bad enough the one window does it. I'm constantly futzing with the driver's side window to get it where I want it because it often interprets even the lightest touch as a command to run itself out to one extreme or the other.

One option that I have always thought would be neat, but which I have never seen, is a way to lock the other 3 windows to the driver's, so that they all go to the same position together, or more likely, move the same distance in the same direction if they happen to start from different positions. Often I have wanted to lower all 4 windows by 2", and had to do them one or two at a time.

That would seem to be an easy enough jumper to rig up one of these electronic guys here that live this life shouldn't really be a problem I've seen him do a lot crazier things that could even be a button on the armrest or in the plastic there that when you flip it your master button for the driver window is going to open all four at the same exact time you push the button for the one and then when you don't want that you flip the switch and that jumper is jumped out and all four buttons work as they did I would think that would be fairly reasonable operation to make happen I have to go ask one of my buddies that delves into this kind of electrical work it doesn't interest me at all but I've seen him make things work in vehicles matter of fact I've got to get with him on the Gen 3 steering wheel in the generation too It should be like very easy move some pins around in the plug and we're done I mean to get the steering wheel buttons to work the older stereo and what not in the generation too might take in 30 minutes something like that we'll see

I thought it was just some trims of gen 3, but looking in the wiring diagram I do only see the four-window-auto version. It has a Hall-effect sensor and a control IC built into every door's window motor assembly. Retrofitting something like that into a gen 2 sounds like a lot of work.

Nope. The driver's window motor has hall effect position sensors built into it that report back to the control IC in the master switch.

None of that exists in any of the other motors. It would be LOTS of work to try and Frankenstein a later (full auto) system into a Gen2.

In the Japanese Prius, all the window lifters have an auto mode.
For this, the 84040-47061 control unit is used.

I saw one on the eBay platform for $20

2006 TOYOTA PRIUS NHW20 Power Window Master Switch 84040-47061 JDM 350740 | eBay

There is one nuance - the window lifter and mirror control unit is located on the right side, convenient for good old England, but for the American continent you will have to work with a file. :)
