It is a time saver as I live at ~2000 meters. Some past reading suggested that dried beans would be less flatulent with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) in the mix. I tried that and it went very badly. Massive kitchen cleaning. So, don't do that. Any other pressure-cooker tips? Safety, mainly. If things go wrong, turn off heat supply and depart. Cleanup is tedious, but steam burns are very much worse.
never used one. there out of fashion here after the marathon bombings. we have been using an electric something or other that just marinates the food all day. really great with chicken et al.
I keep seeing recipes for wine- grape juice and brewer's yeast, a time program on the instant pressure cooker... We haven't got one, so no temptation to try it.
My wife makes excellent pressure cooker spare ribs with black bean sauce. Under an hour, take off to touch down.
My grandfather used to make roast beef in a pressure cooker. It was fantastic . Now the insta pot is the way to go.
My wife uses all the time, but we don't live at 2,000m. One thing we use to use it was to cook chicken for our aged dog, but I am not sure if she knows any secret recipe for human.
Pressure-cooker tips Easy... Throw it away or use it for home canning, if you're into that. Get an Insta Pot. My CFO was gifted one two years ago, and if it fails, we'll get a replacement before the city recyclers have a chance to haul the old one away.
We've got both, a big ol' pressure canner and a recent insta pot. I prefer the old one mostly, simpler. The new one is a more appropriate size for most stuff though.
