This Electric 2011 Jaguar XJ would 47 mpg’s and under 120 g/km of carbon emissions. It does so with a 145kW electric motor (194 horsepower) and a 1.2L 3-cylinder engine keeping it charged on longer drives (up to 600 miles). That backup engine is courtesy of a partnership with Lotus, who will provide their expertise with light, powerful engines to Jaguar in the production of this electric steed. Hey, don't knock Lucas Electrics. After all - they invented intermittent wipers (also intermittent dash lights, headlights, etc). And of course there's always the question "Why do the British drink warm beer?" A - Because they have Lucas refrigerators.
I don't see any mention of EV range. Might use the ICE more often than we'd like. With no stated EV range and the comment that they are merely considering building it, this car is true vaporware. I'd say stick with your Tesla S.
Oh Lucas were bad. Remember those lucas connectors! Guaranteed to rust within weeks and cause no end of electrical gremlins. This wasn't a design flaw but a charactoristic a 1970's British car design. And I really don't know why you think that we Brits drink warm beer. It almost sounds like we heat it up in a mulled wine sort of way. To correct this misconception we have lager beer which is drunk ice cold in a fashion our colonial friends would recognise. We also have the traditional English beer or ale which is stored at cold room temperature (55f-60F) and is still cool and refreshing on a hot summers day. Now if 60f is warm, then I won't ask you to make me a coffee. There is only one enjoyable way to compare the two and where better than here in Yorkshire, home on many award winning English Ales. So, if anyone is heading this way on their vacation, why not stop by and we can discuss the finer points of English brewing over a pint or five. :focus:
I did work with some fine gentlemen from the UK many years ago, and I distinctly remember them complaining that the beer was too cold when we all went for a drink one evening. For some strange reason, they all wanted to go to Denny's restaurant, even though I tried to talk them out of it. Once was enough to convince them though.
I'd probably drink about 4 ounces, just for the taste. I like the taste of beer, especially dark beer, and I'd be interested to see what ale tastes like. But alcohol, even as much as one bottle of beer, makes me feel dizzy and slow and generally crummy.
An imperial pint is 20 ounces, you have to drink at least a pint otherwise you would be wasting perfectly good beer.
Oh, I'm sure I could find someone in any proper Yorkshire pub willing to drink the other 16 ounces, just so it would not go to waste. I suppose Yorkshiremen listen to London radio enough to be able to understand English if I announce my inability to drink a whole pint, even though they don't speak it themselves. How in the world did we get from a vaporware PHEV Jaguar to the problem of finding someone to drink 3/4 of a pint of ale in a Yorkshire pub???
