Is there a way to prevent the fuel economy from resetting after filling up the gas tank? Is this something that the dealer can change? I'd like the FE to be reset manually to give me an average over several tanks instead, like the Gen 1 Prius. I could do it manually, but I'd rather not have to go through the effort
There was discussion about this a couple of years ago, if not more recently. Apparently, there is no way to prevent the reset. You'll just have to meticulously record your gas purchases if you want long-term mileage figures. Folks like john1701a, and maybe DaveinOlyWA, record every single gas purchase. I'm far too forgetful and disorganized.
