Hello I am helping a friend rebuild a 2008 Prius with visible body damage (right side passenger doors bent). I will post images when get a chance..... The right rear tire is out of alignment( a good 45-50 degree angle) from normal.........Where do I(we) start to fix this .....does the whole rear dead axle, struts, coil, stablizer rod, shock, and bear assembly require replace ..... looks like a clown or circus car now.. on that right side.....
Patrick is probably correct as something bent and straitened is probably 50% weeker and not a good situation on the suspension. Bad suggestion on my part. H
What if the basic frame is bent? I'd have a professional at least check it out, in my limited knowledge a unibody can have some straightening done .
Okay..........I am pretty sure the rear beam dead axle has sustain some metal fatigue and deformation(bent).....having said that ......with most modern unibody construct vehicle..... the rear suspension will have to be replaced. ...... so we(me and my friend) have the following concerns.......parts cost and labor.......if DIY the brake line and wheel s sensor would need to be disconected........which creates concern about brake bleeding...........
2004-2009 TOYOTA PRIUS REAR AXLE BEAM REAR SUSPENSION SPINDLE STRUT SHOCK | eBay this is what will be replaced................
Yes, so once you are done with all the work, just tow the Prius to your local Toyota dealer to drain and replace the brake fluid.
You would need to obtain Techstream Lite to do this properly. The issue is that solenoid valves in the brake actuator need to be opened during the bleed process.
You probably don't need a TIS subscription for this purpose, if you are already familiar with the repair manual contents on this subject.
I stated the above terms because I knew ALLDATA(Autozone)software did not totally cover Toyota Prius. What I really seeking(wanting/needing) is to complete DIY without pro mechanic . What tools, diag, software and etc would be required to do this brake bleed for 08 Prius .......I want to thank you Patrick you have always been there for many PC /OP

Since you have the repair manual procedure in your post #14, you can see what is required. There is no need to download software but you need the equivalent of the dealer handheld tool which was subsequently replaced by Toyota Techstream running on a laptop. Techstream Lite will work. You'll get to decide whether other alternatives are suitable.
