    Hello everyone:

I got recently another Prius 2003 with low milage that obviously does not run.

well last week we tried to get it to work by just switching the 12V and hybrid battery from a fully functional car, but we got into some issues:

    1. when we conectes the 12v battery the car wouldn’t stop honking so we disconnected the relay for it.
    2. We didn’t have dash light but we were able to turn on the car.
    3. We had a lot of dash light on as well the orange exclamation mark and ps main on the screen ( this battery is perfect on the other car, we made sure everything was properly connected)
    4. That sound that the electric engine does when you turn the key to on but without actually turning on the car was not done on this car.
    5. Dash lights only came on when fully tuning on the car, it gets turned of after some seconds.
    6. can’t scan it because it doesn’t stay on as well we just switched batteries no I don’t think we can find a code on it.
    7. One of the times we turned it on the wiper blades went crazy even they were not activated by us.

Does anyone has any idea what to look for?

    thanks in advance

I think you need to start with 12V.
Find out how the 12V power supply works, whether the fuses are working.
Whether there is a short circuit or breaks.
And only then try to connect the high-voltage battery.

The sound you're thinking of is probably the brake fluid pump raising the pressure of the brake accumulator. In later generations it starts doing that as soon as the driver's door is opened, but in gen 1 it didn't happen until the key was turned on.

All right thanks for all the responses! So I checked the 100A fuse and yes it was one of the problems. So I think we are getting progress.

I still have some issues that will describe below:

1- Still not getting the hum sound when turning the key but not switching on the car
2- When turning on the car it doesn’t stay on, it kind of stays on for about 8 seconds and then shuts down. When this happens Ps main appears again on the screen.

We tried as well turning on the ac while on switch position but not on and it seems it drained the 12V battery.

we tried to turn it on again after disconnecting the 12V battery and changed gears to Drive and actually the car would stay on but with very rough idle. On Neutral it remain silent and on. But when trying to use the accelerator it shut down.

forgot to mention that the car has no catalytic and don’t know if this may be an issue but at the end of this trial and error I got error P3191.

changed the MAF sensor and even the shaking and rough idle improved still gets turned off and get PS main again.

thanks you all for your help!
