The clear coat of my red Prius is beginning to flake away. It's coming off of the rear spoiler and door handles. Body shop says they've seen this on other Prius as well and said it will only get worse. The only solution is to paint the entire car. It started with small white dots on the spoiler which quickly (1-2 wks) spread to the entire spoiler with clear coat flaking off. Car is kept outdoors all day and is not kept in garage overnight. Anyone else having chipping, flacking, peeling paint or clear coat issues with their 2007 Prius. I called Toyota in Torrance and am awaiting word on what they may do for me. I asked them to pay for repainting the spoiler and eventually the entire car. Suggestions?
No problem with clear coat here, but I do have a problem with the paint delaminating on the hood. Toyota looked at it and agreed to fix the problem. I would suggest you see if Toyota will repair the problem for you. They did say they would fix ours at no charge. Ron
the only problem I have is would the hood. It has a lot of white specs on it. I assumed they were from rock from the road. They are not anywhere else on the car. My car is a 2007 one. I am the original owner and I believe the spots were there within the first year.
Did you get any response from Toyota about your concerns? I have seen several 07's with this similar issue, looks really bad on darker colors.
