The Prius is my daily driver and wouldn't normally cover my car, but I may need to because of conditions at my work. We recently got assigned parking spots and mine is right under a tree that just showers the car with sap. I didn't mind it at first but now even after cleaning it off I'm noticing some etching or something that won't come off even after claying the roof. To save the car, I was thinking to get a nice Toyota car cover, but nothing is available. Anyone here have experience on this?
I have cats that love to walk on my warm car, especially after they do their thing leaving kitty litter paw prints and sandpapering the paint. And when they slide off the hood, man do they leave scratch marks... So I got the local autoparts store $39 cheap-o cover for the C. I consider it disposeable in a year or two.
cool, thanks! I was going to take this route but I figured I might as well make this a worthy investment. I bought a Microbead car cover that will work in the rain, has a skirt you can tighten for wind and has a lifetime warranty. will post pics and review when it arrives. Costs alot more but it has pockets for the mirrors and attenna.
Recieved my car cover from Microbead, its a thin light cover that has a silver coating, works great and I really like how easy it is to put on but they sent the wrong application I got a standard prius instead of a C. They're working on getting me the right cover but if this one is any indication of the quality, i think i'm going to be very happy.
Does it help to keep the car cooler as well? I know that was not your intended purpose but it would be cool if it did! (Pun intended)
I haven't checked any before and after temps but I'm sure it does. The silver coating is very reflective and takes the brunt of the harsh sunlight, so I'm sure it is cooler. If you used the cover and left your windows cracked open I'm sure that would be better. Will get some pictures up when I get the correct one.
Make sure the cover is breathable, if not you may do more harm then good. Also make sure you keep the car well waxed to help lessen any possible scratch's from daily use of the cover.
Haha, yeah the cover is breathable. Good point, I had just waxed the car thoroughly before using the cover.
Pictures of actual product: Note: These pics were taken right after unboxing and putting it on, so the wrinkles were just temporary. Fitment is extremely good, the cover is very snug to the body so there isn't a doubt its custom fit for the car. Extremely simple to put on, and has a great skirt on the sides that don't hang too low to the ground but offer full coverage of the body. Its PERFECT!
I'm intruiged by the little ears for the mirrors. In the very old days when I had a reason to use a car cover, I would fold the mirrors in when using the cover.
