My 2012 Prius C lever will shift but doesnt change gears on dashboard. Its on park and staying in park even as lever can be shifted. It is in ready mode. Any thoughts? Thanks
Shift lever sensor could have gone out? The car is still electronically controlled, even though it has a manual lever. Technically they could have given us a push button if they wanted, but folks "feel" better about having something there.
If everything else works, I certainly would NOT worry about that. It might be an easy fix.....like a screw has come loose on a linkage......but likely that a $5 part has failed and Toyota's standard fix is a $500 complete "assembly" and another $200 in labor to install it. If you have it in a Toyota shop for other service, it wouldn't hurt to have them look at it. An hours labor usually runs ~$120.
