I'm trying to find out the warranty on the Prius C HV battery, is it shorter than the regular Prius battery warranty? I had someone contact me about a hv battery failure on their 2012 Prius C with 105,000 miles, the dealer told them they were out of warranty. In CA, the CARB warranty for the regular Prius is 10yrs/150,000 miles.
i have never heard that there is a different warranty, and i believe all carb state hybrids have to have it. sounds like a bad dealer to me, probably looking at the 5/60.
I was surprised to hear it in another thread but the 2012 Prius C doesn't meet the full PZEV emission requirements for the 10/150. It has a SULEV cert. Toyota Prius C - Wikipedia I would suggest entering the VIN into the owners site and reading the warranty information for final confirmation.
I think fotomoto is correct, it does not meet the pzev requirements. Contacted Toyota corporate and getting a goodwill warranty request. Buyer beware, I don't think many people know about the shorter warranty when buying this car
All hybrids do not have the same warranties. We just bought the RX450h and its battery warranty is 8/100. It all depends on how the car is classified.
Yes but the Prius C really is a gen2 Prius with a smaller HV battery pack. Same motor. I wasn't aware the new RX is 8 years, did you know that before you purchased? That battery is $6000 or something crazy
I heard the salesman say that and went on my smart phone to research . After driving it, it was hard to say no. I'll grid charge as it gets older, but if nothing else, the RX is such a nice car, it deserves a new battery if it fails. We expect 15-20 years out of it.
