How does the PRIUS calculate MPG and to what level of precision? For Example does PRIUS calculation 4 to the left and 4 to the right (1234.4321) an only Display Two to the left and one to the right (99.9)? Or is it using something else? If true then the user will be forced to the more accurate calculation outside of the PRIUS system as they would never see any better than 99.9 MPG.

The computer does use more calculations, but most users have found that those are usually off by a few MPG, when compared to hand calculations (taking the number of miles divided by the amount of gas you put in at the end of those miles). While some of this undoubtedly has to do with the bladder system making refills so unreliable, people have found that, over several years their calculations are, on average still a few MPG different than the car's, which pretty much indicates that the car's calculations are ever so slightly off. (meaning that, comparing the car's calculations with total miles to arrive at gallons, you'd be either over or under by more than 10 gallons)
