Hello All My prius 2006, the AC cold is working, but hot its not working, (city temperature is 7°c) Beirut, Lebanon. I tried these steps: * set it to auto with temperatur in high , still giving cold air. * remove auto , set AC off, set high temp still cold air. * start the car in maintenance mode, removed the air bubble from invertor as directed and from radiador core as directed, still cold air. * open the dash from down RHS touched the heater core inside the dash its cold, even the engone coolant temps is 95°C. Didnt help. * tested inverter pump and its working, tested heater storage tank pump its working. *Put the car on scaner with advanced mode , zero fault. My questions is: * there is any valve used to send hot water to the heater core inside the dash ? And where is it? * there is any special pump that flow hot water inside the heater core and where is locted? I took the car to toyota dealer, they dont sell prius or service it in lebanon.. i bought the from canada and its 154,000 miles with no major problem. I had overheat in sumer time when i was climbing hill, after that i add coolant and remove the air as directed and i stop use the prius for this kinda trips. Please i need help, specialy that no one in lebanon can fix prius, i use to repair it by myself and buy parts online, while used my second car until the parts recived. Regards. Welcome to PriusChat!! Is the mechanical belt driven water pump intact and working? Have you checked the radiator for SLLC fluid, and not just the white overflow tank.
there is no connection between the inverter and the cabin heat. the engine coolant is a seperate loop with mechanical pump, thermostat and heater core inside the dash. there is also a 3 way coolant valve involved. i would start as sfo mentions above, and test the thermostat.
Isn't there also an electric pump mounted behind the inverter, on the driverside of the ABS module, that sends flow to the heater core?
The belt driving the water pump is good , i remove the black plastic to see the radiator fluid its full, i start the car on maintance mode too, the coolant fluid is stable not moving..is it normal or the water pump its not flowing well? Thanks,,, Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. I saw this pump on the map its called water pump heater core..but if its not working why its not giving error code...i will try to find it fuse or the relay to started manually and test it.. Thanks Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. How i can test the thermostat... I try this mode to test it, start the car on maintenance mode , when it get hot the fan start automaticly...is it a correct test for the thermostat? Thanks.. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Heater core water pump is not needed when engine is running. If engine is running and is at normal temperature there's not many things that could cause you not to have heat. Air in cooling system. A bad coolant control valve (or something related to it) but that should give you a fault code and fault light. Heater core (or something else) blocked with something like leak sealant. Or a problem with temperature control flap (or related to it). A bad water pump would cause engine to overheat all the time so that's not likely.
Dear, Do you you know where is located the coolant control valve...90% i think he is the problem, because i have checked a lot of things and its working.. Regards. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
