It appears that Toyota sold more Priuses in March than in any previous month. From the article: "Toyota Motor Corp. said its gas-electric Prius hybrid, which gets around 55 miles per gallon on the highway, had its best-ever sales of 10,236 vehicles." The complete article can be read at: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7358164/ So how come I've having so much trouble finding the one I want? Still hoping to join the ranks, Tom
Guess we started the rush. Bought our beauty on 1 Mar. Waited a couple of hours from order to delivery. Asked for a #6 pkg - any color (to improve chances). Said we'd pay cash on delivery. They hit the phones and found us a car at another dealer in a couple of hours. It was our secretly preferred color too! As we were serious and offered cash, we evidently jumped to the head of the line. Now, after a month with lots of freeway driving, and after 4 fill ups, we are averaging a little over 48 mpg. With gas here at about $2.40 a gal., I had a smile on my face when I filled her up today. Shoot, my lawn tractor uses more gas!
I'm not surprised by their sales. My area is rather rural and Prii seem to be popping out of the woodwork. I was one of 3 or 4 that I was aware of back in December when I got mine and now there are many more than that running around. It isn't a commonplace vehicle, but very noticable.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Old n Bold\";p=\"78000)</div> Maybe I'm wrong but from what I understand, the dealerships would rather sell you a loan than take cash. It seems either way, they have your CASH at the end of the day, and the loan broker gives them a percentage of the loan too. But like you, I wrote them a check too... so what do I know?
