Hey everyone, I'm dealing with some serious issues on my 2009 Prius and could really use some advice. Here's what's happening:

    • Warning Lights: My dashboard is showing multiple warnings that come on and go off together intermittently:
    • Red "BRAKE" light
    • Red triangle with exclamation mark
    • ABS light
    • VSC light
    • Check Engine light
    • The VSC, ABS, and triangle warnings started appearing about a month before the red "BRAKE" light began showing up.
    • Braking Issue: When the red "BRAKE" light is on, braking teels strange, almost like slight hydroplaning. It's inconsistent and feels unsafe.
    • Headlights: The headlights are dimming on and off throughout the day.
    • Shifting Problem: Yesterday, for the first time, the car switched to neutral on its own twice while driving. I turned it off, restarted it, and was able to put it back in drive, but I'm worried about it happening again.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

It wouldn't hurt to start by getting the trouble codes that those lights are telling you to read.

Some of them (for the brake-related lights) you can get this way, so you can post those right away and not have to wait to get your hands on a scan tool: Blink (a/k/a Flash) Codes – How to. | PriusChat

For some of the other lights, have to get those codes with a scan tool. Some choices are reviewed on this thread.
