I did not notate the correct orientation of the washers when taking out the Headbolts. Although I don't think it should matter too much, I would like to do things the correct way. What is the correct way for the washer to be positioned. It's subtle, but one side is unform and the other side has two rings. Does the side with two rings face up towards the sky or down towards the ground when inserted? (I outlined the ring I am referring to with red dots)
Looking in an old PDF of a 2010 repair manual, it just says "Install the plate washers to the cylinder head bolts" and doesn't say anything about which way. It's possible there could be more detail in an up-to-date version: Toyota Service Information and Where To Find It | PriusChat
Doesn't the head bolt flange made up to that ring exactly In other words if you drop the head bolt through that ring aimed up looking at you when you dropped the bolt in you almost can't see the ring maybe that's why when they get torqued in they dimple slightly the washer.
If that's the case I would put them facing back up. I don't think I'd want to squeeze down on the other side
