I have searched the 2010 Prius forum, and just can't find a clear answer. I am soon to be the proud owner of a new 2010 Prius II. When I look at the brochure describing the II, it says it has, "satellite radio capability". When I look at the same brochure describing the III, it says it has, "integrated satellite radio capability". This leads me to believe the III is ready to go, and the II needs some hardware added. (1) What hardware is needed to make the XM radio functional in the Prius II? (2) Is this hardware available at the Prius Chat accessory Store? I am aware that a subscription is required. Thanks!
In a Prius II the antenna is mounted already same as in the III-V but you need a receiver. I don't think I saw the necessary hardware available at the PC store. It's almost a worthwhile deal to get a III imo for the extra 1k, considering you geit xm ready if one knows they do want it, bluetooth, a 6 disk cd changer and the upgraded JBL radio. My dad wanted a II but the dealer got a III by 'mistake' but in the end he was happy he did get the III, and he's not a tech guy but he has grown to love the bluetooth and the cd changer...
