I found this old thread: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=11949 , but being over a year old, I thought I'd start a new one to address my issue. (apologies if I shoudln't have as it's my first time posting here). I have an '05 Prius which I absolutely love. However, the interior, drivers-side door (near where I put my elbow) has peeled in two spots. I don't use lotion, sunscreen or anything similar that I can think would have caused a chemical reaction. The outcoating just seemed to bubble up, I accidentally bumped it, leading to the problems. I went to the dealing to get it fixed under warrently and was told it would not be covered since it was a "wear-and'tear" issue. I don't consider driving a car for a year and a half and having something bad like that happen. Does anyone who's had this problem have any advice for how I get them to voer this? This peice definately isn't up to Toyota quality standards. Thanks in advnace! -Jon
You could try calling the corporate hotline (can someone post the number for him? i don't know it off hand). however, i think you'll get the same answer from them. From my experience, dealerships fix functional items under warranty, but cosmetic items are hardly ever covered (unless it's a warranty for something like an after market paint job, or tinted windows, etc)
Well, the paint peeled off on the lower glove box button. During the 30k maintenance visit to dealer, I had them replace the button under warranty. They didn't even say anything against it. Try another dealer.
