I keep wondering what would happen if you pulled out the complete power train from a Prius, threw away everything else, and rebuilt it as a hybrid motorcycle. Given the cumbersome weight of the traction battery, the gas engine, the planetary gear, MG-1 and MG-2 you might want to make it a three wheeler. Given the complexity of the existing battery and energy management system you might want to scrap the computers and roll up your own, rather than trying to spoof the existing system. You think it would work?
Once upon a time, I read about someone trying to fit a Prius drivetrain into the body of the original Honda Insight. The Honda Insight had a problem drivetrain ... the mechanical CVT. Bob Wilson
Okay, a Prius trike. I imagine you'd have the stock engine & transmission above the rear axle line, and then set up the battery so that it stood up on one of the thin edges (its nominal front or rear) along the centerline, below the seat. Relocate the radiator to the rear, behind the engine. Saddlebags over the front wheel to (each) hold a few ECUs. It would make for a very heavy trike, but it might be fun.
