The voice commands on Prius 2009 Navigation system belong to the first generation voice synthesis system of the last century. It is frustrating to hear a tired voice simply telling me in halting computer accent, " 495 East is on the right"; why can't it simply say; "take next Exit to 495 East" like any navigation system one-fifth its cost? The dealer could not tell me if I can change or opt for upgrade to a better voice command system? Can any one give me some guidance? Thanks DK
You can opt to turn off the Nav voice guidance and just use the information on the screen. I have turned mine off and it gives you the same directions on the screen with arrows with distances to the next turn.
