Greetings. I have a 2005 Prius that was involved in a minor front end accident that by all appearances wrecked the radiator, and radiator support. The car sat for about 3 months before going to the shop. The shop fixed the above but informed me that the hybrid battery was giving an error code. We found 3 bad cells and replaced them. Now the car is giving a single error "P2111". However, the hybrid battery is not charging, but not giving errors. I've also noticed that radiator coolent is going missing somewhere, but no appearing on the ground. I've put in nearly a gallon. Fluid level for the inverter is fine and is circulating. Can anyone comment on where I should start with this? I've thrown nearly half the value of the car into getting the damage repaired, and I'm scared to taking it back to the shop.
was it repaired at a toyota dealer? i suspect not, since they don't replace cells. you need a prius aware code reader. otherwise, get a mini vci and dive in. all the best!
That's what I was thinking. If it's not on the floor/driveway, it's in the crankcase and/or the exhaust.
They probably didn't bleed the system, and you were able to add more. I'm guessing you added 1/2 to 3/4 gallon. If no more coolant ends up missing, you should be fine. Check the codes with a proper prius capable code reader and you might be able to find your problem with the battery and charging system SM-N900P ?
Good point, @JC91006. My first thought, too, but I went back and re-read it and mosten said he added nearly a gallon. Could not bleeding leave that much air? I haven't changed coolant yet, so I don't know. If that's all it is, that would be great! Still leaves him with the battery issue, though. +1 on codes.
