A friend told me about the following video which worked for his Toyota Sienna van, but he said it is model specific. Basically many models have an alarm installed in the production process but are not activated unless you pay for the alarm option. (The panic button itself, is like an alarm so I would think most cars have it). With certain tools, one can activate the alarm on their car through a software update instead of paying the dealer several hundred of dolllars to do it. Does anyone know if the alarm is actually installed but not activated on any of the v models? See video link below.
The two Toyota vehicles in the house I added the VIP alarm to, involved adding a Glass Breakage Sensor. I don't think this will work quite the same.
