Prius battery charge display is not very meaningful. Those line bars are not telling me much. So far my display is showed max two bars below the top. Does the battery charge lever ever reaches the top line?
That battery display is not really important. Yes, it will max out if you go down a steep hill by means of the regenerative braking. But a full battery on the display doesn't mean the battery is 100% full, nor does it empty mean the battery is empty. It is never full or empty. The reason these batteries last so many miles is because they are computer controlled and really only stay somewhere around 40% to 70% charged and discharged. Drive your car and enjoy the MPG's you're getting but don't worry about the battery level on the display, it's all managed by the computer.
