For you folks on a budget.... I just purchased a new (old-stock) Valley-brand Class-1 trailer hitch on eBay. Valley (...with a long-time plant in Lodi, CA) has down-sized over the years... now producing only big-rig type hitches. They apparently farmed-out the rest of their old stock to wholesalers. (I've purchased hitches from them in the past and found their product to be on par with Curt hitches,...in my humble opinion). Anyway...$84.99 with free shipping---includes hardware, instructions, a 1 1/4" drawbar, and pin & clip. A real bargain and easy install. I just went to my local Harbor Freight tool and bought a 1 1/4" to 2" adapter for 12.00 (for bike rack and cargo rack application). Adapter fits like it was made for the hitch. So did it require any modifications of the car or the hitch to fit? Is it just for a bike rack or will you be hooking up trailer lights as well? Pictures are always welcome.
Sorry, I'm working extended hours this week. I' ll see if I can post some pics this weekend. Though, no mods or drilling required...remove 4 bolts and replace them with included 4 bolts and washer. No towing for me...just a bike rack or a cargo basket. As such, no electric tapping required. Also seller sent it very well wrapped to avoid paint chips and dings.
Here's the installation pics: 1. shows the finished install, 2. shows the tow hook removal and install (driver side), 3. shows the muffler hanger install, 4. shows the included draw bar. The driver side tow hook and factory bolts are discarded. The passenger-side muffler hanger bolts are also discarded. The lip of the passenger-side hitch gets sandwiched between the frame rail and the muffler hanger plate. Torque everything down and you're good to go.
Transported two bikes up I-5 (Northern CA). 3 hours...no issues. Checked strapping along way and found everything secure,
I'll say yes. But I offer no guarantee---just my opinion. I only speak for v owners. I think the sedan/v wagon frame rails haven't been changed over the past few years. If that's the case, it will bolt-on. You may wish to inquire with the sedan forum folks to confirm no significant frame upgrades have occurred in '15. Sorry...that's the best I can do,
