I just passed by a Winter Grey 2010 Prius with matching FIVE AXIS WHEELS sitting at the Toyota Palo Alto (CA) for $23991. Â It may have some other modifications included, most likely. Obviously I don't know the trim level but the Five Axis rims dropped my jaw... Will somebody please buy this and take it off my mind? Â Â
What surprised me was the price. If it's anything greater than a II or features any other upgrades, then I'd call it a total steal.
It doesn't have the Five Axis kit but still looks better than stock with the rims. The "matching" Five Axis rims are actually silver, as they can look gunmetal or silver depending on lighting conditions. The gunmetal version as shown in the attached picture is darker.
you're right...silver. It still matches up great though. No kit but it does look lowered... I kind of feel like a creep for talking about someone's future car who probably won't ever visit these forums or notice they gave those rims. Haha.
Honestly I never considered Five Axis rims before. I've had my heart set on WedsSport TC005s for a long time, but those are discontinued and almost impossible to find. I should just concede that it won't happen. So, I know very little about FA rims. Will FA rims fit a gen II? Where do they sell it and where do most people buy it? I'm very tempted to email that dealer and offer a trade for my Touring rims plus cash. Somehow I don't feel they'll go for that...
Overpriced, especially with the addition of the 3M window tinting. It'd be much cheaper to get the rims (and kit) separately.
According to the ad copy, "It's nice being able to slip that key into the ignition and not having to cross your fingers every time." Maybe they need to modify the boilerplate for their ads...
Just Googled those rims they are nice. I found a pic and it brought me to this old thread here on PC from 2007. http://priuschat.com/forums/private-sales/36862-weds-wedssport-tc005-prius-rims-sale.html
Yup. I wasn't around back then. Timing sure is everything. Not only do I know they'll look good on my car thanks to Photoshop, they're one of the few rims that have been proven to get better mileage, so I don't have to even worry about that. *Sigh*
The Gen II has the same 5x100 bolt pattern as the Gen III, so I don't think there will be a fitment issue with the 5A rims. I tried looking up the weight for you but haven't had much luck. As for buying them, it seems that juicedhybrid (yes, that other hybrid website) has the S6Fs for a very good price, and they are floating 10% off coupon around here somewhere... Might be a good move for ya Mac.
w/o knowing the weight it is very difficult for me to jump on this. Unfortunately for me, I am *very* picky and try to make sure my mods are to a T. Thanks for reminding me about Juiced Hybrid. With their price and discount, it'd be $600+tax+shipping. That's a nice price but doesn't include tires and installation. And I really don't need tires right now. I'm thinking of offering that dealer $400 + my Touring rims/tires if they can do a direct swap and installation for me. Rim weight aside, now that would be something I'd do in a heartbeat. Just to frustrate myself more, here's what they'd look like.
I finally talked to someone at the dealership on the phone. They said that my Touring rims won’t fit on that 2010 Prius they have – not sure if that’s true, but I didn’t want to argue – He did say I could still buy them for $3000. Seriously?!? I told him they’re online for $600. He says ok and hangs up before I can say anything else. Don’t shop at Magnussen’s Toyota of Palo Alto. They're pretty rude. I learned if you're not interested in buying a car, they don't want to talk to you. Now I know you're thinking the obvious: Just buy it online. But that requires new tires + installation and will easily take me past $1k. It would've been nice for them to take my Touring rims and a wad of cash and for me to drive away with new rims, but they certainly aren't incentivized to help me. Yeah yeah, I totally understand that. Yup, hoop dreams... But $3000?!?! good god...
